"Call Me Maybe" ASL/VRS

When Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" went viral, I soon grew weary of the plethora of people attempting to sign the song on YouTube. Most of them were ASL students, not Deaf people, and their sign translations were weak. After sending out an email to my Deaf friends - many of them actors - asking them to film themselves signing the song, I edited together this video, which received many retweets from such notable people as Oscar-winner Marlee Matlin and her interpreter, Jack Jason, who - incidentally - praised our usage of ASL.

It Gets Better - Broadway

I was beyond honored when my friend Hunter Bell asked me to be a part of this video in support of LGBT youth alongside Broadway royalty like Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nathan Lane, Marc Shaiman, Celia Keenan-Bolger, and Cherry Jones.

"Maybe This Time" Phamaly

When I played the Emcee in Phamaly's CABARET, many members of the cast and crew told me that they wished they could learn sign, but felt they couldn't because of their own individual characteristics. This frustrated me because I strongly believe that anyone can sign in their own special way. To prove this to them, I covertly made this video. Without telling them what I was doing, I broke down the translation, teaching each person a few random words or phrases and then filming them, later editing it all together. I am so grateful they trusted me. A massive project, it was well worth it in the end.
